Frequently Asked Questions.
Ok, we’re not all born with a green thumb - truth is, most of us are the opposite. Like many things in life, plants take practice. Our goal is to help you get started on your way to becoming a proud plant parent!
You’ll find helpful care instructions on the shop page for each plant. If it’s not there yet, we’re working to have it included as soon as possible! If you have other questions about your plants purchased from Plant Therapy, you can also email us at [email protected] for questions you may have. We do our best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Like people, plants are all so unique. That’s just one of the reasons they are so much fun! That said, it will not be uncommon to find variations of colour, size and growth pattern on our plants. While we always maintain a high standard of quality, there may be subtle differences from what is displayed online.
We measure and size our plants based on the top diameter of the grower's container (the plastic pot the plant comes in). Grower container sizes will fit in the matching decorative pots accordingly. i.e if you purchase a 4” plant, be sure to get a 4” - 4.5” decorative pot.
All of our measured heights featured on our product pages are approximate. We measure from the bottom of the grower's container to the tip of the tallest leaf.
Frequency of watering will depend on the time of year and your personal environment you keep your plants in. We suggest following the water guidelines for each plant on the product pages. When watering, be sure to remove your plant from its decorative pot and place in the sink or bathtub if it's a larger plant. As you water, you should see excess water run through the bottom of the grower's container for 30 seconds to a minute to ensure the roots are saturated. Let drip for up to 30 minutes to an hour and place back into your decorative pot. DO NOT LET YOUR PLANT SIT IN EXCESS WATER.
We suggest keeping your plants in it’s growers container for a few weeks after you receive it before repotting. With that said, ONLY REPOT INTO PLANTERS WITH DRAINAGE HOLES! (Our Frida Collection works well if you decide you’d like to re-pot). Please note, watering large plants is much easier if kept in the growers containers. If you feel your plant needs a repot - choose a pot with drainage or a plastic growers container that is no more that 2” larger than its current pot/container.
Some plants like to be root bound (kept in smaller containers) and others don't. A good way to tell if your plant needs a re-pot is to examine the bottom of the growers container. If you see a lot of roots reaching out of the drainage holes, it may be time to move on up in pot size. It’s best practice to re-pot in the spring / summer while your plant is in it’s growing season.

Yes. Please inquire by sending an email to [email protected]
Because of inventory issues, we have to remove the pot option from some of the plants. BUT that doesn't mean we are out of matching pots for it!
You can find all of our available pots here. Not sure which one will fit your plant? Match the size of the plant (ie. 4" or 6") to the size of the pot. A 4" Monstera Adansonii will fit perfectly into any of our 4" pots.
